The objective is to create a new event that brings together data protection experts and invites the domain leaders to inform them about the GDPR, its aspects, methodologies and solutions for data protection and to meet demand of this new regulation coming into force by May 2018.
Luxembourg Data Protection Days is an initiative created by Mélanie Gagnon, CEO & Founder, MGSI and supported by Vincent Wellens, Partner at NautaDutilh Avocats Luxembourg, during which they gathered more than 200 participants on May 29th 2017 for the GDPR Countdown Event. It is almost a year to the day of entry into force of the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
The objective was to create a new event that brings together data protection experts and invites the domain leaders to inform them about the GDPR, its aspects, methodologies and solutions for data protection and to meet demand of this new regulation coming into force by May 2018.
A comprehensive program presented by well-known speakers such as Mr. Max Schrems (Privacy Advocate, Europe-v-facebook.org), Mr. Gérard Lommel (former CNPD president and DPO of the Luxembourg State), both are illustrious experts in data protection, Mr. Sebastian Meissner (Head of the EuroPriSe Certification Authority), Mr. Johan Bierebeeck (Finance & Performance Director at Editus Luxembourg) and by our Platinun sponsor Mr. Jean-Philippe Wagnon (Managing Director at Vectis).
In the form of a fair, the event allowed the participants to meet, exchange and participate in workshops focused on important issues raised by the GDPR, to discover the professional solutions and applications to improve their protection mechanisms and to address all their questions to the present experts.
This 2017 edition got a great success and raised the awareness of the professionals of the imperative of compliance in the shortest possible time. Following this event, the appointment is already set for next year on 29 and 30 May 2018. Two days are planned to meet the increasing demand at the « Luxembourg Data Protection Days – GDPR Is NOW! » for the entry into force of the GDPR.
