MISP for climate
MISP could contribute to the fight against climate change by enabling researchers to process their data more easily.
The heat wave of July did not leave the MISP community indifferent. The climate emergency is becoming clearer each day. It’s the reason why the CIRCL MISP team has launched a test tool to import large amounts of climate data for comparison, sorting, aggregation …
Numerous data on CO2 concentration for more than 50 years have already been imported into MISP.
The data concerning the atmosphere, the environment and the climate are very numerous, but are stored in heteroclytic formats, which does not allow aggregating them to deepen research on climatic phenomena. MISP offers the ability to store large amounts of data on an open platform so that it can be manipulated for research purposes. Tags can be assigned to each data set to define, for example, where the data has been collected or to assign a reliability indicator.
In this way, MISP could contribute to the fight against climate change by enabling researchers to process their data more easily. Among others, the aggregation and sorting of data could be facilitated. This is the first time that MISP is used for a “non-cybersecurity” purpose. The scientific community working on climate issues is warmly invited to test this new tool at their disposal, and perhaps enrich it…
